CONGRATULATE FOR or CONGRATULATE ON?

I congratulate you for the success you made in the just concluded election. 

When we use the verb ‘congratulate', the preposition used with it is ‘on'. 

Therefore, the above sentence will be rewritten as: 

I congratulate you on the success you made in the just concluded election.
