VALENTINE DAY or VALENTINE'S DAY?

 • Today is valentines day and I am waiting patiently for my valentines card. (non-standard)

Today is Valentine’s Day and I am waiting patiently for my valentine card. (standard)

The noun Valentine’s Day is a proper noun, which like other recognized days set aside for celebrations, begins with a capital letter. We should also note that ‘valentine card’ is a compound noun and it should not be treated as a proper noun or a possessive noun even though it’s derived from Valentine’s Day.
